New AtomicBuilts:
Mini-Z Element & Team Edition F1 |

Fearless leader here, and its been another very busy month at
AtomicMods. As always we have added lots of
new products, written more tutorials and articles, and lost
even more hair. However, I feel that the most significant impact
has been the
AtomicMods Test Track. The Test Track has allowed us to
accelerate our R&D, evaluate new products, and figure our better
ways to use old ones.
Since we now
have our own facility we decided to start the
AtomicMods.com Racing Club - Houston which meets once a week
to race so if you are in the area, come see us. Not only are we
improving our driving skills, we are also learning a lot about
running a racing club which we intend to make available to other
racing clubs to help grow the sport. We believe that the success
and growth of the hobby depends on the local racing clubs,
because driving around the house is only moderately fun, and
only that for a short time. If you have never been to an
organized race, you don't know what you are missing. Take a look
at our
Local Racing Clubs page to find a racing club near you.
The Test Track has also allowed us to spend more time tuning
our cars to perfection.
When we get one
that is exceptional and has proven itself worthy in battle, we
will create a Team Edition profile and post it in the
AtomicBuilt Cars section of the site. We go to great pains
to describe each and every aspect of what makes these cars great
along with supporting
tutorials and articles in many cases. Below are our
two newest AtomicBuilt Cars.
The
Mini-Z MR-02 is a great all-around platform for racing 1:28
scale. Out of the box, it performs well. With a few basic
upgrades, you can be competitive in the stock class at
your local race track. We wanted to create a car that was
competitive in the open class, while keeping upgrades to
a minimum, giving you the most "bang for your buck."

the setup driven by the Team AtomicMods drivers in the 2007
racing season. The Mini-Z Formula 1 is a great platform,
and with the right upgrades it becomes a very capable machine
that is a dream to drive.

Cristian's Corner |

I was looking through our site the other day and came across our
old Mini-Z Body Compatibility Chart. Although this chart was
very informative, it was a bit cumbersome to read, plus it had
had not been updated in a while, so there were a ton of bodies
to add!
Well, we sat down, put our minds together and designed
a better, more user friendly body compatibility chart. This
new chart tells you what length and types of motor mounts you
can use with which each body as well as the offset and width
wheels you will need for them to fit correctly.

New Tutorial: Mini-Z F1
Disc Damper Body Trimming |
One
of the best upgrades you can do to your Mini-Z Formula 1 car is
installing the
Atomic Damper Plate System on it. Unfortunately, the damper
hits on the inside of the majority of the bodies out there. The
damper hitting the inside of the body causes the suspension to
bind up, which in turn, leads to erratic behavior.
The fix for this is very simple though. All you need is a
couple of easy-to-use hobby tools, a steady hand, and a little
bit of patience.

Measuring Downforce |
The
term downforce describes the downward pressure created by the
aerodynamic characteristics of a car that allows it to travel
faster through a corner by holding the car to the track or road
surface.
If you think because these cars are so small, that downforce has no effect on the handling
of a Mini-Z,
you'd be wrong.

2007 PN Racing Mini-Z
World Cup U.S. Southern Regional |
|
Our
very first hosted event is over!
And a great one it was. The
2007 PN Racing Mini-Z World Cup U.S. Southern Regional took
place at AtomicMods’ very own testing facility on the weekend of
August 4 and 5. Lots of spectators and great competition
resulted in some very exciting races witnessed by all.
After a day
of practicing on a really tough track layout, everyone brought
their "A" Game in hopes of qualifying for the PN racing World Cup.

Micro-T parts are on the website. I know what you're
thinking. "John, that's not a shocker. AtomicMods.com has always been the
#1 destination for the
Micro-T."
For those in search of a great aftermarket radio, without a
hefty price tag, check out the
FUTABA MAGNUM 2PL.
Currently there is a manufacturer's rebate on it, so that price
tag is even lighter.
The Mini-Z Monster has been sort of dormant in recent days,
but I hope the addition of the
new Mini-Z Monster Baja Buggy
will pique some interest.
For more new stuff, check out the very aptly named page,
New Stuff.

Find a Local
Racing Club |
|
 |
|
We just love to
race, and we know you do too. We also know how tough it can be
to find other racing enthusiasts, so we created
this page to
give you a way to connect with other racers in your local area.
You can also
submit your local racing club to help other racers find you.
