Importance of Load Testing

OK, so you just built the car of your dreams with all the latest upgrades, but how do you know if it's operating at peak performance? You do it by load testing. We do this on each and every car we work on, before and after, and you should too.

We dusted off an old tutorial and updated it with new information including a current comparison chart: Tutorial - Measuring Current

Cristian's Corner

We get a lot of calls from Mini-Z customers who think their car is defective because it doesn't go straight, has no reverse, makes a buzzing noise or doesn't turn enough.

This is a simple fix if you know about the secret compartment with magical adjustment knobs. The location of these mystical knobs was previously known only to the "Brotherhood of the Magical Knobs" who are sworn to protect this secret with their lives. We ran across one of the brothers in the hotel lounge at a hair gel convention and after getting him drunk on Fuzzy Navels were able to extract the location of the sacred knobs... Read More...

Mini-LST Part Duex!

The Mini-LST was already a beast.  Now the engineers at Team Losi® have gone off the deep end.  Losi has announced that another mini will be joining the ranks of its popular 1/18-scale line. The Mini-LST2 is entering the fray, offering the hobbyist another great choice in 1/18 4WD Stadium Trucks.

The Ready-to-Run Mini-LST2 is designed and modeled after the LST2, Losi’s top-of-the-line monster, it’s truly the monster of the mini class. Featuring a dual-deck aluminum chassis, oversize adjustable aluminum-body shocks, a 4-wheel drive system with 3 differentials, dual high-torque Frenzy-370 motors, complete ball bearings and the Losi radio system with 2.4 Ghz DSM® technology which uses no crystals or channels. This innovative radio system allows you to run your Mini-LST2 with other vehicles anywhere, anytime, without worrying about interference. With these features the Mini-LST2 represents the ultimate mini truck experience.

Features unique to the Mini-LST2 are:

• Metal ring and pinion gears
• Aluminum shock bodies with threaded adjusters
• Gear cover that allows for use of the Mini-T dual disk slipper
• Revised suspension arms, hubs, and spindles
• Chrome dish wheels with mini-ATX tires
• Three new painted body styles (Red, Blue, and Silver) based on the LST2
• Losi radio system featuring 2.4GHz DSM Technology for crystal-free convenience
• Everything included—even 4 AA batteries for DSM transmitter

Get Paid to Play

Around here, it doesn't feel much like working, but more like getting paid to play.

Cristian once told me that he has so much fun working here, that he feels guilty and I know exactly what he means.

So if you too would like to join our guilt ridden team, pop on over to the Careers Page

Team AtomicMods March News

John and Cristian will be heading off to R/C Madness in Enfield Connecticut for the Fourth Annual 1/18 Indoor Off-Road Carpet Nationals race on April 13, 14 & 15 2007. This is an annual event (you can tell because it says "Annual" in the title.) The race this year should be the best yet and they have some huge sponsors. Team Associated & Castle Creations have already signed on as the headlining sponsors and Greg Vogel, Executive Editor of R/C Driver, has already agreed to cover this event and give us a minimum of three pages of coverage. Also, Duratrax, Team Scream, Quark Brushless, Apogee Tekin, & Xtreme R/C Cars have already agreed to be sponsors too. Last year saw 200 entries and with the ever growing popularity of 1/18 as well as new vehicles hitting the market, including the RC18R, the turnout this year is sure to be considerably larger.

AtomicMods also a Sponsor
AtomicMods signed on to sponsor the race. We'll help out with the marketing as well as providing gift certificates for door prizes. Additionally, we are sponsoring the first ever "AtomicMods.com Messy Pit Award" which should be a lot of fun. Read More...

 John's Rectangle

Being the Mini-Z devotees that we are, we're very excited about the new ReadySets that will be released at the end of March.  The VW Golf (MR-015) will be
available in two colors along with two different Ferrari Racing body styles (MR-02).
Towards the end of April, we'll see some new Mini-Z AWD selections. The LANCIA DELTA HF 1992 MONTE CARLO RALLY WINNER is one that will cause our Euro-racers to salivate I'm sure.  Along with it, we will have a SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI SPEC C in Metallic Blue and a new Audi TT in two colors.
Personally, I'm looking forward the most to the OPEN INTERFACE TOM'S LEXUS SC430. It is an MR-02 RM
ReadySet and will also be available as an Auto Scale.  You may be wondering why its been so long since we have seen anything new? Well it seems that Kyosho's design team was in cryostasis until Rob snuck in and tossed a stink bomb into the air handlers.

We are working on adding the XRAY M-18 line to the store.  The M-18 is a perennial award winner in the 1:18 Touring Class and is a truly impressive machine.

We are fully stocked on the Losi Micro-T and more importantly, the Atomic line of Micro-T hop-ups.  The new Atomic Micro-BB Motor is in high demand, so pick yours up soon!

For the XMODs, I added the new Atomic Differentials. These adjustable diffs are super-smooth and are superior to their stock counterpart in every way.
