Tutorial 1:28 XMODS Generation 1 Steering Knuckle Trimming
Here you will find the step by step instructions on how to trim the XMOD Steering Knuckles. If you look at your control arms closely you will probably see little groves where they have been rubbing the back of the wheels. The purpose of this modification is to increase the clearance between the steering knuckle control arms and the back of the wheels to prevent rubbing.
Required Items
Needle File Set
Side Cut Nippers
XMOD Gen1 Left Steering Knuckle
XMOD Gen1 Right Steering Knuckle
Step 1
The first step is pretty obvious, you need to remove the steering knuckles.
Step 2
Next take your Side Cut Nippers and clip the steering arms as shown.
It is important that you have a very sharp pair of cutters or you will deform or break the steering arms when you try to cut them.
Step 3
File the arms smooth as shown with your Flat Needle File.
Step 4
Here is a close-up of the finished steering knuckle.
Step 5
Here is a trimmed steering knuckle next to a stock steering knuckle.
Step 6
This is how it should look installed. Now you have a lot more wheel clearance and the back of the wheels should not rub the knuckle as before.
