ShopCam Setup

The first time you load the ShopCam page it downloads the ActiveX Control required to view the camera. This can take between 30 seconds and 5 minutes depending on your connection speed. Being the smart guy you are, you have probably already clicked "Install ActiveX Control".

A few seconds later you will see the following dialog box, and I'll give you two guesses which button to click.

Next you get the "Axis License Agreement". Be sure to read all the fine print, especially the part about organ donation. After accepting this, you should see the camera within seconds.

This camera has been very popular, and the video can be choppy during heavy use. Also, if you cannot see it, the maximum number of 20 connections to the camera may have been reached, so try back later. After a few minutes the video stream will time out, so that everyone has a chance to see the camera. You can refresh your browser to reconnect to the video stream.

As a final technical note, when using the live view page, if you have Windows Security Update (KB 896688) installed, you will see a list of components reporting that they could not be installed or registered. This is a known issue with the Axis Media Control software which is used to view the video stream. It does not prevent the camera from working. If you want the information directly from the Axis website see http://www.axis.com/techsup/faq/index.php?id=63639. The workaround is to add the url http://webcam.atomicmods.com as a trusted site to Internet Explorer.

If you want to install this workaround:
From Internet Explorer version 6 click the Tools menu > Internet Options > Security tab > Trusted Sites icon
then click the "Sites..." button
uncheck the box to require server verification
and type http://webcam.atomicmods.com and click Add

Back to the ShopCam.
